Neurapraxia
Neurapraxia is the mildest form of nerve injury that results in a loss of sensation along the nerve path. It is a common condition among athletes involved in contact sports. While the cause of this type of nerve injury is not entirely understood, the condition is mostly attributed to compression of a nerve area or an inadequate blood supply along the nerve. Surgery is not necessary for this condition since within a few weeks an injured nerve will repair itself, resulting in the recovery of muscle function and skin sensation.
